Individual Services

Private one-on-one sessions are provided in the comfort of your home or an otherwise specified location. Sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes and can be provided on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

Goals are outlined by an individualized treatment plan developed through an initial assessment and may address the following areas:
  • attention to task,
  • creativity,
  • cognitive skills,
  • fine & gross motor skills,
  • self-expression,
  • speech & communication skills, and
  • social skills.

Individual preferences are key in developing effective musical interventions in order to engage the client, meet their needs, and provide opportunities to successfully master specified goals. Interventions may include active music making, movement to music, singing, songwriting, and lyric analysis.

Consultations

Consultative music therapy services are provided to promote generalization of skills outside the therapy environment. Consultative services are generally provided on a short-term basis with the aim of teaching specific, effective interventions to other individuals who interact with the client on a consistent basis. Consultative sessions can be scheduled with:
  • parents or guardians,
  • teachers,
  • other therapy professionals,
  • educational teams, or
  • facility staff.

Group Services

Group music therapy sessions are provided for groups of 4 or more participants.  Sessions are provided within community agencies and facilities that cater to multiple clients with similar needs. Groups may last for 30 to 60 minutes and can be provided on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

Group music-based interventions address a wide range of functional areas with an emphasis on:
  • social interactions,
  • following directions,
  • turn-taking, and
  • attending to task.

Interventions may include active music-making, movement to music, learning songs about social, behavioral, and cognitive skills, as well as songwriting collaboration. Client preferences are key in developing effective music interventions.

In-services & Presentations

Inservices and presentations are provided for your agency, business, club, organization, parent group, or school. Topics covered include:
  • basic information about music therapy,
  • brief history of the field,
  • who music therapists work with, and
  • typical goals addressed.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to take part in demonstrations of music-based interventions a music therapist might use to address potential client goals.
