Music Abounds, LLCMusic Abounds, LLC is a private music therapy practice, owned and operated by Sarah Winkler, MT-BC, founded in 2015. Music Abounds aims to serve
children with special needs in the immediate Rock Hill area by
assisting them in overcoming challenges and gaining independence in every day
life. Music therapy is an established health care profession which provides
clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish
individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed
professional who has completed an approved music therapy program (AMTA, 2005). Music
therapy has been found to be particularly effective addressing the needs of
school age children diagnosed with developmental disabilities.

Sarah Winkler, MT-BC, is a board certified music therapist based in Rock Hill, SC. She has experience specifically working with the school age special needs population, with particular emphasis on diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Down’s Syndrome, and developmental disabilities. Prior to launching Music Abounds, Sarah was the full time music therapist with Spotsylvania County Schools in Fredericksburg, VA. There, she managed a caseload of approximately 20 students with a wide range of developmental disabilities ages 2-22 years. In addition to providing direct services, Sarah also has extensive experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team by consulting or collaborating with a wide range of therapeutic and educational professionals.
A 2007 graduate of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, Sarah earned her Bachelor of Music degree with honors in Music Therapy and a minor in Psychology of Human Development. As part of her degree program, she completed a 9 month internship with Community Action Wayne/Medina Head Start in Wooster, OH. Sarah has successfully maintained certification through the Certification Board of Music Therapists since 2007. In addition to her degree, Sarah has completed trainings in leading early childhood music groups (birth-age 5), music therapy assisted childbirth, therapeutic songwriting, and drumming techniques.
Sarah has presented at regional and national conferences including the Mid-Atlantic Regional Music Therapy Conference and the Council for Exceptional Children Annual Convention and Expo. Topics of interest include music therapy in the public school setting as well as collaboration with other mental health professionals.
Sarah is an actively involved member of the Music Therapy Association of South Carolina, and the South East Region of the American Music Therapy Association.
